by: Jane Kwiatkowski, Buffalo Magazine, page M4

How does a Maniac keep her sanity?

Like everyone else, have a balance in life. That's one thing about being older. I find the older I get, I feel time is an ally. If something is not going right one moment, wait and reinterpret things.

How big are Natalie's shoes?

The same size as mine. We both wear a size 8.

How important is passion to you?

Extremely. That is a driving force in my nature. In arts and music, you try and pump a breath of life, try to make it come alive, and passion is a key ingredient.

Are you shy?

I was quite shy as a little girl. There's always that streak of shyness when I meet people who are like idols. It's a chemistry thing -- like blushing.

What is your secret talent?

I can make a great salsa with lots of garlic.

What do you think about when you are singing?

I try and feel the vibes of the people in the audience. I also try to think about how the music is making me feel. I think about different people in my life. When I'm doing an outdoor show, I find stars riveting.

What do you do for fun?

I love to walk and dance.

How do you define success?

Being able to appreciate yourself. Be your own best friend and see your own ability to understand your own knowledge. Tap into what is around you, because anything is possible.

Is your voice insured?

Not that I know of.

How do you take care of it?

Everything is connected. If the mind and body stay healthy, the voice stays healthy, definitely. Just exercise, breathing.

What is the first song you recall singing?

The frog song in nursery school
